چکیده
Abstract Sorghum is an important forage crop, and both quantity quality of this crop are affected by drought stress. Accordingly, in order to investigate the effect stress on morpho-physiological traits, a split-plot experiment was conducted based randomized complete block design with four replicates Isfahan, Iran, during 2017 2018 seasons. Treatments were irrigation regimes levels (control, preventing at pollination, seed milky, doughy stages) three varieties sorghum (Sepideh, Kimia, Payam). The results showed that negatively influenced morphological yield-related traits sorghum, while its positive some quality-related such as total soluble carbohydrate, crude protein, proline contents. According results, prevention stage (representing moderate stress) caused inconsiderable reduction yield. In addition, has relationships between sorghum. Considering together susceptibility (stress index) tolerance (geometric mean product) indices indicated Payam variety more proper be used non-stress conditions. Furthermore, Kimia shown suitable but because having low NDF might suitable.

Sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] grain yield is severely affected by abiotic and biotic stresses during post-flowering stages, which has been aggravated by climate change. New parental lines having genes for various biotic and abiotic stress tolerances have the potential to mitigate this negative effect. Field studies were conducted under irrigated and dryland conditions with 128 exotic ge...
متن کاملRole of endosulfan in mediating stress responses in Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench.
Present study revealed the importance of endosulfan in mediating stress responses in Sorghum bicolor L. Moench (variety JP-1-1). The seeds treated with different concentrations (0.2, 0.4 and 0.6%) of endosulfan showed a significant decrease in percent germination over control. As the concentration increased, the shoot length, root length and biomass decreased. The amount of chlorophyll-a and pr...

Fluorescence microscopy was used to determine the l ocation of Bglucans in sorghum. Sections from three genetically different sorghum cultivars were st ained with Calcofluor or Congo Red , fluorochromes which have been reported to react with 13-glucans. Autofluorescence, indicative of ferulic acid in other cereals, was observed in untreated sections. When stained sections were treated with endo...
متن کاملSeed Coating with Hydro-Absorbers as Potential Mitigation of Early Season Drought in Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench)
Climate change poses a threat to sorghum production systems by shifting the onset of the rainy season to a later date, increasing the risk of crop failure during crop establishment. The effects of drought on sorghum during seedling establishment have not been determined. Coating seeds with a water absorbing substance offers a way to buffer the seed against insufficient moisture in the surroundi...
متن کاملInheritance of Resistance to Sorghum Shoot Fly, Atherigona soccata in Sorghum, Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench
Sorghum production is affected by a wide array of biotic constraints, of which sorghum shoot fly, Atherigona soccata is the most important pest, which severely damages the sorghum crop during the seedling stage. Host plant resistance is one of the major components to control sorghum shoot fly, A. soccata. To understand the nature of gene action for inheritance of shoot fly resistance, we evalua...
